Rental FAQs

  • Is experience required to drive a scooter?

Although riding an automatic scooter is simple, especially if it has a small engine, a total lack of previous experience in riding a two-wheeled motor vehicle can be a serious risk. We therefore advise against renting to those who have no previous riding experience, even if they meet the legal requirements (A or B license) for riding a scooter.

  • What documents are required to rent a Vespa?

You need a valid driver’s license,  and a credit card for the security deposit.

  • What documents are required for rental?

For vehicles with an engine capacity of less than 125 cc, a category B license (for driving cars) or A license is required.

For vehicles with a higher engine capacity, a category A motorcycle license is required.

    Credit /debit cardis also required.

  • What does the rental price include?

    The rental price includes:

    Civil liability insurance

    Anti-theft lock

    Helmets and disposable hygienic caps

Everything included in the chosen insurance package.

Prices include VAT and vehicle taxes.

  • Are there mileage limits? Is mileage unlimited?

Mileage is unlimited for all vehicles except motorcycles with engine capacities exceeding 400 cc, where available. In this case, the mileage limit is 200 km per day. If the rental contract is for multiple days, the mileage is multiplied by the number of days, i.e., the mileage limit for a seven-day contract is 7×200= 1,400 km in total.

  • How much does each extra kilometer cost?

Where applicable, each extra kilometer costs €0.30.

  • Is any type of rain gear provided?

In case of rain or uncertain weather conditions, a waterproof jacket and trousers and gloves are provided free of charge upon request. Please contact us in advance to check availability of this clothing, depending on the vehicle pick-up location.

  • Is a helmet mandatory? How many helmets are provided?

Yes, helmets are mandatory throughout the European Union. We provide up to two helmets of different sizes for each scooter, which you can easily store in the trunk or under the seat at each stop. A practical disposable cap is also provided.

  • What is the minimum age requirement for taking children on a scooter?

Italian law prohibits the transport of children under the age of 5 on two-wheeled vehicles. For older children, it only establishes the principle that their physique must be such as to allow them to sit in a stable and balanced position, in the position determined by the appropriate equipment on the vehicle.

  • In case of rain, can I request a refund?

We can cancel any booking without penalty up to 48 hours in advance. Of course, in case of rain, it is always possible to change the departure date.

  • What happens if I get a ticket?

If you commit a traffic violation, you are required to pay the fine.

In this case, the rental company is required to provide the driver’s details to the authority that issued the ticket, which will send the fine to your home address. The administrative cost is €18 + VAT for each fine. This cost includes any additional administrative procedures that may be necessary (management of driving license points, evidence of contractual and insurance documents to the police, etc.).

  • What are the cancellation terms?

You can request cancellation of a reservation without incurring penalties by communicating your decision at least 48 hours in advance.

  • Is Rome suitable for getting around by scooter?

Rome is the European and Western capital with the highest number of motorcycles in circulation, with over 400,000 units. This data helps us understand why the city has had to adapt over the years to accommodate an increasing number of motorcyclists. There are various reasons for this: The main premise is the urban layout of the city, which is not particularly suited to civil engineering works, such as the construction of parking lots, roads, and highways. Rome is an open-air museum, and any construction work must take this reality into account. A normal consequence, in an attempt to ease city traffic congestion, is the ban on cars driving within the ZTL (limited traffic zone corresponding roughly to the historic center), a ban that does not apply to motorcycles. The need to reduce travel times due to traffic and the lack of parking spaces for cars have also contributed to the increase in the number of motorcycles on the road in general. Ultimately, Rome has become the city of two wheels. Motorcycles are a means of transportation for Romans and a fascinating way for tourists to visit the city.

  • Is it permitted to drive through the historic center?

The ZTL (limited traffic zone) is open to two-wheeled vehicles, unlike cars. This zone covers most of the center of Rome.

  • Are there any areas where traffic is prohibited?

In Rome, the only area where scooters and motorcycles are also prohibited is the ZTL A1 zone. This zone roughly corresponds to the “Medici trident” and consists of Via del Corso, Via del Babuino, and Via di Ripetta. The entrances are not manned, but there are gates equipped with cameras that automatically identify unauthorized vehicles.

  • Where is parking allowed?

    Where is parking allowed?

In the center of Rome, there are numerous parking lots reserved exclusively for two-wheeled vehicles. Furthermore, mopeds and motorcycles are allowed to park for free in blue parking spaces reserved for cars.
